First nice day out

It being the first nice weekend in a while, we decided to go hiking at Quicksilver park (picked at random). Pam & Mike joined us (Pam took the fence pictures). We had thoughts of bicycling, but it turns out it's a pretty steep hike up, so just as well we didn't.

We hiked up the hill (about a mile), had a picnic, then went back down again and visited a park nearby. The slide generated a lot of static, as you can see. Who says Ian doesn't have any hair? The park also had a spiderweb climbing structure that Isabella climbed all the way up.

There was a gate across the road near the picnic table, so of course everyone had to climb it. Many times. Over and over again. Ian needed a little bit of help, but got surprisingly far on his own.

He also hiked up the hill mostly by himself, which is pretty impressive. Isabella hiked most of it up as well, but since we let her wear her flipflops she got blisters. So she got carried back down, at least part way.

(Back at the park again.) The park is actually bicycling distance from the house on the Guadalupe river park trail. We went down there again this weekend (Feb) on bicycles this time. It has picnic tables and a big lake. Looks like there's swimming in the summer, but the water's full of seagulls and geese, so...

This is our new camera, btw. Which shows up the circles under mom's eyes. Sigh.
The gate was very popular. Over, under, around... There were several people who had dogs, which Isabella and Ian both went over to visit. Ian got licked a lot. Probably because he was still covered in various things after the picnic.

Ian really wanted to hold Isabella's hand while walking. It was very sweet. Until, of course, Isabella got tired of holding his hand and he got upset...
