Hospital. Very, very nice people, although if I never have my blood pressure and temperature taken again it will be too soon. First shower was wonderful. Had one really long night where Isabella just wanted to nurse. Constantly. Which didn't help with the sore nipple thing.
Thank goodness for the lactation consultants. Although I will never look at breastfeeding as this lovely, "natural" thing after having the nice lady grab my breast, squish it, then cram it into Isabella's mouth. So much for the class where they just have you gently, but
quickly, bring the baby to breast! Our biggest problem was getting Isabella to stay awake - 10 seconds after nipple in mouth, sound asleep. Tried feet tickling, back stroking... Finally ended up taking all her clothes off and turning the heat down.
It was nice having all of these friendly people do everything from diaper changes to bringing me food, but I was *very* happy to see the end of that hospital room. My backside was getting shaped to the chair and rather sore. On our last day folks from our Bradley class (due same
day as us) checked in with their new son.
On the way out we put Isabella in her car seat for the first time. She went ballistic for the entire trip to the car (they make you ride out in a wheelchair) but, fortunately, quieted down a bit on the drive.
