Visitors

We had visitors after Isabella's real birthday and before her birthday party. Grandma and Aunt Barb, who helped both to clean up the house and chase after children. Especially helpful because Bill was out of town for a couple days. Still a bit of a trick to get Ian to go to sleep while keeping Isabella entertained. She's still pretty clingy about going to bed (wants you to lie down with her until she falls asleep) and while Ian does fall asleep pretty easily, getting him to stay asleep can be harder. Lights and noise are Bad. Miss that white noise in the basement (which works for Bill but not so well for me).

Part of the time was spent getting stuff for Isabella's party, but we also had beautiful weather and made it out to the Cahokia mounds, a pretty cool place I've never been to before.

The weather was beautiful and we got to walk around and up the mound (lots of steps) with nary a need for a heavy jacket. Although we did make the mistake of slogging across the boggy grass to get there. Poor Isabella ran smack into the wet stuff. Grandma ended up carrying her for a good part of the way.

Isabella also walked off with Grandma's hat, and went "climbing" on the display cases, which, while fun, wasn't exactly their intended use.

Ian slept most of the time, with a brief time to eat. Both kids fell asleep on the drive back, but only stayed out long enough to get lunch but not actually eat it. Oh well.

Isabella also caught pink eye at day care. Not a big deal, but the clinic had the wrong number for me so it ended up being quite an ordeal to get the prescription (ended up stopping by) and meant that Isabella had to stay home that Friday (she's been sick a lot, and oh, do I miss day care when she's home all day, not quite ill, but too much of a fever to send in...) She took the first set of drops ok, but it got steadily worse. Even the day care folks were impressed with how much she could thrash around and duck her head and avoid getting them in. Dad did finally figure out some magic way to get her to hold still. In return, he had to hold still, holding a stuffed animal, to get pretend drops put in.

Ian continues to be his good-natured self. Still sleeps a lot, and just in general happy to be picked up and carried around. He will sit in his bouncy seat, and sometimes the swinging one (not often) and is slowly learning to grab things. We redid his hearing test, which he passed. He had his two month shots, and is, best as I can remember. 15lbs and 8oz, and very long (95th percentile). Stopped wailing almost as soon as the shots were done.

He also has lots of new socks, thanks to Aunt Barb.
