Venture in construction with sugar... We had some folks from daycare over (and a few adults) to decorate gingerbread houses. Jennifer and Nathan co-hosted, bringing over cookies and soup to keep the sugar-laden kids going. We had five little houses for the little people, with cardboard houses to glue them to. I also experimented with making free-standing ones; it's certainly do-able, but takes a while because you have to wait for the icing to dry. Too difficult for the little people.
The kids were able to put stuff on with some help spreading the icing. Once the houses were finished they reverted to form - bouncing on the trampoline and pulling every toy off the shelf. We got to see Kaitlyn for the first time in a while - she, Molly, and Isabella use to hang out in the park after day care was over.
A surprisingly small amount of icing and candy ended up on the floor. I set up a coffee table over the picnic table and that seemed to work pretty well. Jennifer found whip-cream like spray cans that did icing, which worked really well for decorating.
Ian hung out as usual, with very little fussing and was happily passed between different adults.
