Moving

Despite leaving more than half of our stuff in Caitlin's basement, we still ended up taking a fair amount with us. Remind me to get rid of everything and live a spartan life style...

Packing was a last minute nightmare. Trying to get everything where it needed to go, clean up the place... And, of course, Ian got sick and then Grandma got delayed 2 days (yes, 2 days) which wasn't fun for her or us.

We camped out at Caitlin's for the last couple days, because all of our stuff got shipped out early. Transformed her lovely place into a disaster zone :) but we did manage to get it all into suitcases and on the plane.

The plane flight went smoothly, if a bit delayed, and all our stuff came with us. Nice having Grandma on the plane, too! We camped out at Grandma's for a few days before moving into the new place. Fortunately, our shipped stuff got out pretty quickly, so we were able to unpack and move in in just a couple days. The kids loved the new, empty space and ran around like crazy. They loved the pool, too. The movers laughed at us as they proceeded to pretty much fill an entire room with our stuff. It did all fit (mostly!) but it was tricky.

The pool was definitely a hit with Isabella, although the only place she could touch was the steps. There was a little spa that she could play in, too, although I didn't want her in there too long because it was pretty hot.

Shortly after we moved in, I flew to DC for a week-long grant meeting (with Ian). I had my favorite baby sitter from the last time I was in DC who took good care of the little guy for me. He was a huge hit with the hotel staff, who adopted him. And with some of the other conference attendees.

Did make things a bit difficult, though, since he's still not sleeping real well, and he wouldn't go to sleep if there was anything exciting going on.

Although flying with an infant is not fun, people were very helpful with getting car seats in and out of planes and through security. At least he can sit up now!
