Isabella's birthday

Isabella had her party at the Magic House (excellent memory - that's where Molly had her 3rd year party). I choose a princess theme, since it seemed in line with Isabella's general lifestyle. There were a few boys signed up (other than Ian) but they didn't show, so it was a very Girlie party. But at least we didn't have to clean up! And I'm sure Ian enjoyed being the only guy present (the girls love him at daycare - he's going to think you *always* get hugs from all the girls in the room).

Ian's favorite part of the afternoon was, of course, the cupcakes. He missed most of the crown-making and wand-making, which is probably just as well. He was also a little short on the nap part, so he ended up going home a bit early with dad. Poor guy, we keep taking Isabella to the Magic House and leaving him at home because he needs a nap.

Isabella also had her spiffy birthday crown from the party store, which she wore at every available occasion (ballet class, grocery store...)

After the party Kaitlyn and Katie and Isabella went tearing up and down the beanstalk. It was like they'd never been apart. After the beanstalk, we discovered the secret "hidden" duct room upstairs, which has a duct to crawl through and a slide. The girls looped the slide over, and over, and over again. At some point Katie had to go home, so we retired to the baby play area. We also ran into Emma and Ella again and played on the pegboard making faces and building Lego towers.

 The day was marred by only one incident - Katie (who's slightly older) was able to write everyone's name down on a poetry leaf (we had to steal some unscribbled ones from the tree, since there were no new ones). Isabella had difficulty writing a K and just completely melted down - wanted a new leaf (which we didn't have), got mad every time she tried to write a new K, wouldn't ask for help... Eventually got her calmed down enough to keep playing.

She and Kaitlyn built an entire big lego tower out of the big blocks (with help from me and Kaitlyn's dad). That and the slide they could run up and down were a big hit.

 Ian is also practicing to be a Diva...
