Sushi

We went to Denver last weekend to go snowboarding, since a bunch of folks from the lab were there anyways. Snow was great, and Copper Mountain has a day care that was half a block from the slopes and the condo... Flight out went pretty well, as did the drive up, although the drive and flight back were pretty bad. She was very tired but just couldn't make it to sleep. So she screamed. Loudly. Sigh.

She had a pretty good time at the day care - they're set up for 20 some babies, but there was only a handful while we were there. Isabella got to go shopping with one of the day care folks, and apparently spent the rest of the day putting on the hat they loaned her. And every time anyone put a jacket on, she was right there with her penguin and the hat, ready to go outside again.

We went out to eat one night at a sushi place. She drank most of my Miso soup, had a go at the California roll, and made a start on eating with chopsticks! Guess we don't have to worry (yet) about picky eating habits...

She is now permanently attached to penguin. She keeps mimicking what we do - Andrea put a necklace on Isabella, so she took the necklace off and put it on penguin... Penguin has also worn most clothing and diaper, has gone for rides in the stroller, been bounced in the bouncy chair... Good thing he's somewhat washable, because she wouldn't let go at day care and so Penguin ended up wearing macaroni and cheese a couple times...

She didn't sleep so well in Denver - possibly the altitude and being in a strange place - but last night she slept from 9 until 7:30, not a peep. We'll see about tonight - she seems to have tummy troubles or something.

We've started with a nanny at home on Fridays, since we both have to be in for candidate interviews. She's a grandma, and seems to get along fine with Isabella. Was a bit surprised to find out we were doing cloth diapers.

Isabella has teeth everywhere. Doesn't seem to be bothering her too much, though. She's learned to shake her head "no", which she finds very amusing.
