It being Calif, in the middle of February was a lovely sunny Saturday, so out we went for a walk. Grandma and Pam joined us, along with half the Bay Area. Fortunately, by waiting in the parking lot to catch up with each other, a couple people pulled out and we were able to get parking.
The best thing about the walk was the water. There's a creek that runs sort of by the trail, and we found two places where we could get down to the water. Which enables our favorite activity, throwing rocks in the water. It was pretty shallow, which was a good thing, because both kids wanted to walk across the water. Isabella in her Teevas, Ian in his shoes. Definitely time to get the little guy some water-wading shoes!
Ian tootled around on his own two feet quite a bit. His balance is now good enough that he can run on uneven terrain. And across bridges. Which make a spectacular noise when you thump on them (back and forth, back and forth...)
Isabella hiked the whole way pretty much on her own. Aided by playing chase with mom and Dad the big evil monster who was out to grab Little girls. It's much easier to get her to run than it is to get her to walk. Less whining, too!
We did do some of our Isabella piggy back riding. She almost fell asleep at one point.
At the end of the hike there was a water faucet. You turn the handle, water comes out, you let go of the handle, water stops coming out. Which is a bit of a problem if you want to stick both hands under the water. Poor Ian couldn't figure out what kept happening to the water. He'd look up the faucet, turn it on, stomp his feet when it stopped...
