Back from the Beach

The last week was spent at the beach house on the Oregon coast, where wireless is slim, so no updates. Isabella didn't spend much time on the beach - we had one trip out, where she sat in the sand, but she didn't seem all that interested in it, and was definitely unhappy about getting sand in her mouth.

Hmm, I started this post but I lost it when my computer shut itself off. We're back from the beach, and back to work. Not many pictures taken at the beach; I'm hoping some other folks took more pictures.

In chronological order... we left bright (ha!) and early at 7:00am. Almost didn't get checked in on time. The nice man had checked both of us in, even though Bill was off parking the car. Which led to great confusion when Bill came in and tried to check in some luggage (after the cut off time). But all was well. Flights were on time; full, unfortunately. Isabella slept a little more than normal, but was definitely up, down, squirm around. She was not at all happy about the car ride out to the beach house. She slept for a fair amount of it, but cried the rest of the time.

On the flight out she had fun putting her hand in a glass of ice water, then putting her hand down my shirt. Followed in many cases by her head. She likes splashing the ice around, but doesn't quite get that it makes her hand cold...

Here she is practicing her standing skills while Allan reads to Calin and Alexander. She spent quite a lot of time upstairs here, crawling around on the floor. There was a very cool table that spun and had wrought iron legs. There was Casper, who spent a lot of time tied up to this couch. Isabella got over her shyness and kept trying to grab the poor doggy's tail, which led to a fair amount of face-licking. There was also lots of banging on pots and chewing on measuring spoons, chasing after remotes... Oh yeah, and the dog dish was a favorite, as were all the cupboard doors to open and close.

We didn't go out much, but here she is sitting on the grass, checking out the various castle building toys. You can see the flippers from our wet-suit collection.

She enjoyed playing with her various cousins, grandma, John's parents, Aunt Cori... of course, she was sniffling the entire time (and generating a lot of snot) and managed to give her cold to just about everyone present (Bill, Cori, Larry, John...) Oh well. She didn't seem much bothered by it, but she wasn't all that happy about having her nose wiped.

This was one of our few walks on the beach. She's getting a bit heavy for a front sling carry and isn't very happy in the back carry (we tried at the airport). We also forgot a sun hat, so I was a bit worried about sunburn. We actually got to use some of the cold weather clothes, especially at night, because it was down in the 50s.

She didn't sleep well at night. Sigh. Up every 2-3 hours. She will sometimes go back to sleep on her own, after flopping around a lot. Unfortunately, the flopping usually wakes me up.

She really enjoyed Cori's penne pasta. Ate quite a lot of it.

She was really good on the flight home - sat happily in dad's lap most of the time. She was far more awake than I was...

She's getting quite confident about crawling around and pulling up on things. She still has a three-point crawl - drags her left leg under her.
