...And then there were words. What we have heard this week: Baby, ball, bean, birdie, bucket, blanket, bowl, box, banana, bread, bunny, bye-bye, cookie, doggie, ducky, hi, pajama, penguin, potty, thank you, vrooom, whee. And even some "sentences" - she said bye bye to me, walked over to the cupboard, pointed at the cookie shelf and said cookie. I got her a cookie and then she closed the door and said bye-bye cookie. She seems terribly tickled when she says something and you understand her.

We had our first "potty" request tonight - I was putting on her diaper and she started tugging at the velcro and saying potty. So I sat with her on the toilet, she peed, and then said bye bye. Don't know if she just wanted to see the toilet flush again, but hey... she clearly knows what the potty is because she'll go and get one of the little potties or point at the toilet and say potty.

Pictures are courtesy of grandma, who came out to visit again. She did a pretty good job of catching Isabella practicing her "nursing yoga" moves. Isabella will stand on one leg with the other straight up in the air... do flips, head stands, you name it... Although I've officially been turned down for a jelly bean. Sigh. Tonight she did her tug on the shirt routine, we went to the big blue chair - where she sat up and pointed at the jelly bean jar and asked for a bean. Guess I know where I stand now!

Isabella's been practicing her thank you's - anytime she puts something away she says it. She's been helping to put toys away at day care. And, apparently, telling the other kids what to do. She was told to stay out of the crib room, so she walked up to the other kids, pointed at the crib room, and said "no, no!" She also goes straight for the door and says "bye bye" when you come to pick her up. Unless, of course, she's in the multi-purpose room, in which case she drags you back to the regular room to get penguin first...

She's also getting really good with the puzzle pieces - she knows what goes where. Grandma got her a puzzle that makes sounds when you put the pieces back. She likes that. She especially likes dropping the puzzle piece on the floor and asking you to go get it (she's been standing in the chair to play with the puzzles on the table). She's also getting really good at putting the shaped blocks into the appropriately shaped holes - she finally understands that different shapes go in different holes, although she still doesn't know which is which. Tonight she crawled into the green chair, asked for the blanket, then asked for the box so she could sit there and play with them... She also spent about half an hour taking the tissues out of the box and putting them back in, much to Bill's dismay. She's also playing in more interesting ways with her train - she opens and closes the things on the side, pushes it around, deliberately pushes buttons to get the songs she wants, gets things in and out of the seat...

Sleep has suddenly become, well, sleep. We just lay her down, and she goes to sleep !?!??! She's started saying bye bye to me, then going to Bill (who usually puts her in her crib) and then just wants into her crib. She's been going to bed earlier most of this week because she's only been sleeping for an hour at day care. And then she wakes up once, nurses, then goes back to sleep. Last night she slept The Entire Night without waking up. Wa hoo! Of course, that made up for the previous night, where she woke up every hour and a half... (runny nose again) but with the exception of Thursday night we've had an entire week with only one waking per night.

Tonight she actually went and got her pajamas out of the drawers after her bath... and initiated saying "bye bye" to her bath toys. And got the shampoo bottle out and handed it to me while rubbing the top of her head (that was before the bath).
