Look at me!

Isabella ran a really high fever Saturday night, then slept most of Sunday morning. Once she woke up, though, she seemed pretty much her happy self, if a bit snuffly. Still not eating much, though, and lots of fingers in the mouth so I think she's teething, too. She'd have a bit of cracker, then look like she really didn't want it. I did manage to get some yogurt down her, though, and, of course, nursing.

We had snow on Friday - 8 inches, which has now all melted, of course. We decided to shovel out the driveway, and Isabella decided to help. She did a pretty good job of pushing the shovel around, although it kept getting stuck when she hit snow.

We also went sledding at nearby Shaw Park. I'd bought a big inner tube, figuring that would be gentler on us old folks than a plastic saucer. Can't say she really liked or disliked it, but we had fun. Of course, I forgot to bring the camera.

Her snowsuit finally arrived back from Vancouver, where we left it. Over a month for the box to go out and back! But the nice people sent us a Whistler Kid's baseball cap for Isabella. We've been making do with her purple fuzzy suit, but it's not very waterproof and is getting small on her.

We've been getting a lot of "look at me!" - not happy just to go do her own thing anymore. She'll look at me, look at the TV buttons, and when I say "ok", go turn the TV on and off... then look at me to see if she can do it again. She likes to play blocks (you build them, she knocks them down) and will actually go get you and make you sit down to play.

We've picked up another couple words - bowl, milk, row (as in row, row, row your boat) no... (lots of no's). We got a picture book from the library which just has a picture of an animal and the name, and she seemed to like to point to the cow and say "milk". Maybe it's because she's been feeling sick, but she'll actually sit in your lap and look at the book for awhile.

I was putting away leftovers after dinner, and Isabella decided to join in. Since she didn't have any food, she decided to put poor penguin in the tupperware. (No, that's not pee on her leg - she tipped over the wash bowl of water onto the table, me, and her.)

She's been doing more mimicking - she helps me pull the clothes out of the drier, although she seems a bit confused by the wet clothes - I put them in the drier and she tried to take them out, but they were wet and she didn't like that. She helps me stack up the diapers, then picks them up to take upstairs. I even got her to help put some of the dirty clothes into the washing machine. She puts some things away, like the wooden blocks into the puzzle box, the big legos into the plastic bag, and she loves sweeping with the dust pan. She'll take a cloth and wipe off her nose, face and hands, brush my hair (and hers) and, of course, there's the favorite toothbrush.

She's getting good with the shapes - she can put the hexagonal block into the puzzle block most of the time, and is really good at stacking the rings, and can even put the wooden puzzle pieces back. She also likes feeding the bird almonds. We've been holding her up with an almond in her hand - the bird seems to quite like all the free almonds as well.

Jellybeans... I made the mistake of letting her eat a jelly bean. I've moved the jelly bean jar to the top of the bookshelf because I was afraid she was going to drop it. So now we get lots of standing at the bottom of the bookshelf and pointing up "Mo' mo' mo'!". And I can't drink chocolate milk or juice without her demanding some.

She was almost back on a regular sleeping schedule - sleeping until 3 or 4 - but now we're back to waking up. Sigh. And definitely switching to one hour long nap. We're pretty reliably getting her to bed by 8, and (except for tonight) she goes out pretty fast. And sleeps until 7:30 or 8. Tonight we're in thrash mode. It's 9pm, it's been an hour, and she's still not really asleep. Sigh. Don't know if it's the chocolate milk or if we just missed the sleepy zone - we've been putting her to bed earlier because she hasn't felt well, but left it a bit later tonight.

Still about the same on the EC side. We did have another wander into the bathroom and point.
