Caught in the act

We went down to Kangaroo Kids to buy some winter clothes. They have a bunch of resale stuff, including a toddler bed shaped like a VW bug. Guess who thought this was the best thing since sliced bread.... which led me to doing some googling for toddler beds, finding one that looks like a fort, a fire truck, and a train.  Too bad the last one is so expensive - her favorite book at the moment is the little train that could. We picked it up for $1.50 at KK and I think we've read it more times than all the other books combined. She actually sat and "read" it in the back seat the entire trip home (20 minutes!) It's now Isabella's train book, and, as she so proudly tells us, "Isabella read train book in car!".

We are thinking of moving to a toddler bed. She'd probably be fine about it now. It would be fun to get her something more exciting than a mattress with a headboard, but we'll see.

We think she may be (finally!) over her cold. No runny nose or coughing today, although she still wanted to go straight to bed tonight, for the 3rd night running. No bath, just a story, than "mommy pat Isabella to sleep". Sometimes not even the story. 

Her favorite new phrase is "Do it myself!" She went over to the bathroom scale yesterday, pushed the on button, then stepped onto the scale with said announcement. She now weighs 26lbs. Sigh. I think she's going to start going up and down stairs all by herself, no Mommy chair lifts allowed. She has managed to get her shirt on by herself. Yesterday, while I was doing laundry (and not paying attention) she took all of my underwear and put it on over her head. And nearly fell over from the weight of it all.  

Action shot from bicycling home. Apparently she can actually shift Bill's bicycle (mine's a bit too stiff). She's still not too keen on the helmet, but she does like to sing. Even better is for mom to sing, but that's a bit more than mom can manage sometimes.

Out of the blue this evening she demanded that we "do the hokey-pokey and turn ourselves around". We do that in the swim class, and I've done it once with her at home. We still get the occasional request for "Ring around the Rosie", but usually we just get that, followed by "Isabella fall down" when said person accidentally falls down. She now tells herself to "be careful" and "watch step".

I almost caught a photo of her putting her shoes on in the corner, but I got there a bit late. She wouldn't go back in the corner to get her picture taken, but she did agree to pose with her sandals on.
