Catching up

Notice her new tooth. And her lovely hair do.

Things Isabella is doing now:
  • Throwing a diaper (or hat or washcloth or whatever...) over a toy, picking up the toy with the diaper, taking the toy out, then putting it back on the ground again. Particularly impressive with the washcloth over the (floating) toy in the bathtub.
  • Running. Well, at least she's stomping her feet and moving pretty fast.
  • Going down stairs. She still waits for a hand hold and does a sit-slide sort of descent. She seems to know about going backwards, but doesn't particularly like to do it.
  • Pushing things around. This includes the cute push toy Grandma bought and the broom. The broom did not work so well (being at least three times taller than her) but she was very determined to make it go and rather upset when it kept getting stuck.
  • Riding her new bouncing zebra (another gift from Grandma). It makes noise, which she rocks out to. She can now get on and off on her own.
  • Putting hats on her head (as long as *you're* not trying to do it for her...)
  • Pointing at everything and saying "more". Especially eggnog. She was very unhappy when we finished off the last of it.
  • Eating with a spoon and fork. She takes great delight in actually getting food on the spoon/fork and into her mouth. Does seem to require a lot of concentration, tho.
  • Getting mom (or dad) to feed her whatever they're eating. Preferably off of a spoon or fork. Doesn't matter if she's just finished eating tons of food, must have more!
  • Eating an entire tangerine.
  • Banging on the big blue exercise ball.
  • Doing whatever mom's doing, including: typing on the keyboard, using the tablet pen, putting on shoes, brushing teeth or hair, writing with pens
Some cute things she's done recently:
  • Sat on her diaper, pulled it up, and said "potty"
  • Kicked her playmate Caitlen over by climbing into mom's lap, getting two feet lined up, and pushing (apparently mom's lap is not for sharing)
  • Put mom's snowboarding gloves on and wandered around looking like a cartoon character with one large hand up in the air
  • Nearly knocked dad's tooth out. Ok, maybe that's not so cute...
Things that make her giggle:
  • Playing peek-a-boo either with a towel, the railings on the landing, or the bars in the crib.
  • Being chased around
  • Doing the Tango with dad
  • Blowing bubbles
Things that make her cry:
  • Putting a diaper on (or off)
  • Taking clothes off (or putting them on)
  • Not getting to touch the birdie (or anything else she wants but can't have)
  • Being told that something's "not for babies" or "not for touching".
  • Nap time
  • Getting strapped into the car seat
  • Sitting in the stroller when it isn't moving
  • Getting stuck behind a door
  • Trying to push or move something that's stuck
Sleep update: She seems to be feeling better and only waking up once or twice at night. She's alternating between one nap and two. Usually in bed by 8:30 and awake around 7.

Poop update: She had a bit of something, I think, because she pooped a whopping 6 times last week, and has only slowly been tapering off (down to 3). She's starting to fuss with a wet or dirty diaper, which is good. Still will go if she actually has to that minute, but in general shows no signs of giving signs, so we've had a lot of misses.
