Tuesday's day care did not go particularly well, probably because poor Isabella was still a little bit tired. She also had a massive blow-out at day care, probably caused by a tummy bug, which she still seems to have. However, she did crash that night and slept for 11 (yes, 11!) hours, and then woke up, only to roll over and go back to sleep again until 10am. Poor Bill thought something was wrong because she woke him up and there was *daylight* in the basement :).
We went to the music class again on Wednesday, and Bill gamely played along with the funny gestures and the singing. We got there a bit late, in the midst of a hula-dance type thing, which didn't help. I've actually managed to play the cd once since class; hopefully we'll hear it a few more times before class next Wednesday. She really liked banging the sticks together.
We took Isabella down to the doctor on Wed afternoon to look at a rash under her chin. Turns out to be a rolls-of-baby-fat-collect-dampness rash (there was actually a technical name for it, which I've forgotten) and it is now fading after a few baths and double checking that it's dry before bedtime. Officially entered the nervous parents category :). She is eighteen pounds now, and healthy as can be.
Thursday daycare went a bit better. Turns out one of my old master's students, Nathan, has his daughter Molly in the same daycare group - small world!
We seem to be back to poop in the morning and the afternoon - unfortunately, whatever she's got has made her (warning, tmi) green and mucousy and very liquid. I don't know if it's a food allergy or a tummy bug. We've also, unfortunately, missed two of them, one during the picnic Friday afternoon and one this morning. Yuck.
Friday morning we had our first babysitter, Janet. There's a company that you can call and they arrange someone for you - we called Thursday afternoon and they found us one for Friday, which was very nice (last-minute meeting scheduled by the dean). Turns out she's baby sat for two of the faculty - including babysitting Jon's son, Greg, who is now in college! Went really well, she slept for an hour and a half and no real fussing, even though she must have been getting hungry towards the end.
Friday afternoon we went to the departmental picnic. I spend some time talking to Rennie's wife Eucelia (ok, kvetching) about life-post-baby. Bill played cricket. Isabella had a grand-old time, got to visit with some of the other mom's there. She swiped the entire hamburger bun off of Ken's plate and had a lot of fun gnawing on it for awhile.
Saturday afternoon was Richard and Jamie's wedding. Isabella did not scream during the wedding service (yay!) although Bill had her in the back of the room, just in case. It was a good thing she slept for two-three hours in the morning, though, because she was up from 1:30 until 9:30 with only one twenty minute nap. She got to eat pretzels in the Sheraton lounge and meet lots of people at the reception. We made it through dinner without her wearing too much of the asparagus, bread or spinach. She also piddled for us quite regularly - the parking lot, the Sheraton hotel, and at the reception - so 6 hours with one wet diaper! She also slept until 2:30, which was a welcome relief for me because she's been up every couple hours for Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat night (I think it's the tummy thing - her pee actually smells kind of funny/strong too).
We had a nasty diaper this morning, even though she pooped earlier. But she did get some sleep this morning, although she shows no sign of sleeping again this afternoon. Ah well. I did get to skip out and go climbing, which was nice.
